Biomak® recycles landfill-bound garbage
ECONWARD's steam hydrolysis technology converts landfill-bound garbage into two clean, pathogen-free streams. The resulting organic stream is well-suited for composting or anaerobic digestion processes. It can be composted to produce nutrient-rich compost, a valuable soil amendment for agriculture and landscaping, or serve as a valuable feedstock for anaerobic digestion, a biological process that produces biogas as a byproduct. Biogas can be utilized as a renewable energy source for electricity generation, heating, or transportation fuels.
In addition to the organic stream, steam hydrolysis also yields a non-organic stream containing materials that are not susceptible to hydrolysis, such as plastics, metals, glass, and other inert materials. This non-organic stream is clean, free from pathogens, and can be used in cement kilns as a high-calorific value refuse-derived fuel (RDF). RDF serves as a renewable alternative to fossil fuels, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on finite resources.
By separating landfill-bound residential and business solid waste into clean organic and non-organic streams, waste management facilities can achieve significant reductions in landfill volumes, recover valuable resources, and contribute to sustainable waste management practices.
